Top dog-friendly dining spots in Sydney

At Pooky & Boo, we believe every outing is made better by the company of our canine companions. Unfortunately for pup-lovers, however, not all venues share the same sentiment. Luckily for us, a growing number of restaurants and brunch spots are becoming just as passionate about our pooches as we are, and Sydney in particular has been quick to embrace this pup-loving trend. With this in mind, here are some of our favourite dining spots for Sydney paw-rents and their beloved pooches.

Naked Brew, Erskineville

For a dog-friendly dining spot with a side of delicious, you won’t need to look any further than Naked Brew in Erskineville. The popular brunch venue goes out of its way to make sure nothing is left wanting amongst furry patrons, with a dedicated dog menu offering tail-wagging delights such as doggie donuts, blueberry & peanut butter smoothies, and doggie-chinos with a modern twist (the liver sprinkles are a real crowd pleaser). For hungry humans, it’s hard to look past the cafe’s signature offerings, which include crackling pork belly paired with buttermilk waffles and Gaytime French toast complete with honeycomb crumb. We have a feeling it won’t just be furry friends who’ll leave licking their lips!

Cuckoo Callay, Newton & Surry Hills

Cuckoo Callay - Sydney.jpg

Originally opening its doors in Newton, this dog-friendly cafe was so darn delicious they had to make two of them, with their second addition setting up store in Surry Hills in 2017. Whilst known for its rather eye-catching interiors (the fuschia colour scheme is hard to miss), it’s Cuckoo Callay’s pooch-friendly attitude that’s been attracting the attention of Sydney’s pooches. And with treats like house maple bacon treats, it’s easy to understand why - you know it’s good when they have to clarify their doggie menu is ‘just for dogs’! But fear not two-legged brunchers, with options like  ‘Return of the MacDaddy’, ‘I speak fluent french toast’ and ‘I got 99 problem but chia ain’t one’, you know your tastebuds are in for a treat!

Storehouse, Rushcutters Bay

Located just off Rushcutters Bay Park, Storehouse restaurant is  known for providing its furry guests with a dining experience they won’t forget - and a fine dining experience at that! All four-legged friends receive a warm welcome on the restaurant’s beautiful outdoor terrace (coined the ‘doggy deck’), where they can be treated to the restaurant’s signature four-course dogustation. The delectable menu includes pawtein balls, sesame seed wafer, watermelon chew and a classic puppycinno, and has been specially designed by a dog nutritionist so we’re sure your doggo will give it the paw of approval!

If you’re after a venue with a pub-style vibe, we’ve found your new dog-friendly watering hole. The owners at The Vic on the Park love their fur-friends so much they have an entire mural dedicated to doggos, and plenty of pup-friendly perks to go with it. Patrons and their furry friends are invited to wine and dine on the outdoor deck, where paw-rents can enjoy a range of pub classics, from loaded potato skins to the venue’s very own spin on the popular parmi. Don’t forget to enter your pooch into the Doggy Badge Draw for a chance to win a pup-friendly prize in the name of local pet charity, Maggie’s Rescue.

The Carrington, Surry Hills

If you’re venturing into the stylish suburb of Surry Hills with your furry pal, it would be a canine sin to not stop by the pup-loving folks at The Carrington. A dog-friendly venue in every sense of the word, these guys have nailed the relaxed pub atmosphere, permitting pups in every part of their venue. Whilst you tuck into your own pub meal (we hear their steaks are top notch), your furry friend will be treated to a canine classic of their own, with the option to choose from steak and veggies or a simple beef tartare. If you’re stopping by on a Sunday, make sure you get in early for their all-day roast, which comes complete with a free doggie meal for hungry pooches!
