Spring greenery

The word has long been out about the colours that will grace our runways and homes in spring 2017. According to the Pantone color report, this year’s spring fashion is all about natural hues: blues, yellows and, of course, green. In fact, the Pantone Color Institute named greenery it’s colour of the year for 2017; and what better time to showcase this natural shade than in spring, when nature is at its best. If you’re on board with this year’s organic take on colour, why not brighten up your home with authentic greenery (pet-friendly plants, of course) or splashes of natural hues in your home décor. Make sure you get your beloved pooch involved with Pooky & Boo’s contemporary dog beds.

Paw-fect patterns

We’ve seen the rise of print in fashion over the past year, and it won’t be long until home décor follows suit. If you want to stay ahead of this trend, it’s time to get creative with different prints and patterns. We’re talking mixed, matched and even mismatched designs! Tropical and geometric patterns are always a great way to brighten up a minimalist space with a little spring vibrancy. For a true statement look, you may want to try mixing different patterns and prints together. Modern eclectic prints and shapes have been a huge inspiration behind our handcrafted dog beds at Pooky & Boo, so don’t forget to check out our latest styles for this season.

Let’s get textural

Along with mixed patterns, mixed textures and fabrics have also been making a bigger appearance in 2017. If your home furniture is fairly simple, try adding textured throws, hand-knitted fabrics and even woven textiles into the mix to give your interiors that eclectic edge. Velvets and faux furs are gaining popularity in the home interiors scene, but you may want to stay away from the former if you own a pet. There are plenty of fur-friendly fabrics to choose from that have embraced this textural trend; throws, in particular, are a great way to add texture to your spring interiors without having to worry about hairs or stains.

Artisan décor

DIY décor has dominated the home interiors scene in recent years - think pallet box furniture, repurposed crates and bookshelves made from old wooden doors (yes, that is a thing). We’ve seen a mix of weird and wonderful objects transformed into contemporary décor for the modern home, but spring 2017 is all about a new take on home furnishings - artisan décor. Moving away from those quick-fix designs, this trend is all about finding quality and well-made pieces to add style to your home.  So if you want to make a statement this spring, think about adding character to your interiors with unique decor and handcrafted furnishings.
