Whilst Perth isn’t short of its fair share of events, it’s not always easy to find a venue that appreciates the furry members of your family! And let’s face it - days out just aren’t the same when you have to leave your pooch at home. Luckily for Perth pet owners, these dog-friendly events are providing a chance for Perth pups to go on a doggie date of their own!
Pawsome doggy day care - Social Saturdays
When: Every Saturday
If you’re looking for something a little different from your weekend walks in the park, this unique doggy day-care centre in Booragoon is offering pups and their companions the opportunity to socialise with fellow fur babies in a friendly, pooch-loving environment. “Social Saturdays” invites pooches and their owners to meet, greet and play in the centre’s very own puppy playground - a 520 sqm off-leash area featuring cubby houses, ramps and tunnels. With a returning community of owners and pups, this is the paw-fect place to bond with fellow dog-lovers over a love of all things pooch!
American Express Openair Cinema - the Ozone Reserve
When: March 9th - April 1st
After the recent success of charity event “Doggie Dinner Movie Night”, it looks like another pup-friendly cinema is making its way into Perth (at least until April). American Express Openair Cinema promises to give pups ‘the VID treatment’ at their dog-friendly screenings, with canine couches offering pooches a comfortable viewing spot whilst they snack on doggy donuts from Darby’s Dog Bakery & Deli. Owners and their doggie dates will get the chance to relax and indulge whilst watching the latest and greatest box-office hits, including a sing-along version of cult classic Grease!
Slate Café
When: Every Saturday
Aside from a mouth-watering brunch menu and a pretty chic interior, this dog-friendly café turned puppy play-yard hosts its very own breed-specific playdates for pups seeking a social date with furry friends of the same variety (crossbreeds welcome!). Hosted every Saturday, pooches and their human companions have the opportunity to explore the café’s enclosed doggie playground whilst admiring the scenic views of Swan Valley.
Tip: if you’re feeling a little peckish, you can always indulge in a treat or two in Slate’s dog-friendly dining alfresco area before the event!
Vic Park Farmers’ Market
When: Every Sunday
If you’re stuck for something to do with your pooch on a Sunday morning, the Vic Park Farmers’ Market welcomes both pups and their owners with open arms (and tasty treats)! Whilst there’s plenty of local stalls and produce for attendees to browse and taste, pooches will have the chance to indulge in some treats of their own from the resident doggie food stalls - Go Fetch Bakery and Doggystyle Delivered. Don’t miss the dedicated ‘dog bar’, where your pup can grab some much-needed shade and rehydration on Perth’s warm summer days. Just make sure your furry friend doesn’t enter the stall spaces along the way!
Twilight Festival at Perth City Farm
When: Wednesday nights
For those seeking more of an evening affair, the Twilight Festival at Perth City Farm is open to pooches and their owners every Wednesday night until mid-April. The market caters to vegetarians, vegans and (of course) furry friends, with plenty of opportunities to support and sample local produce along the way. With live music and lots of local talent, the event promises to be a woofing good time - just make sure your pup remains on a leash!
Sandy Paws - Leeman’s Landing (Two Rocks Dog Beach)
When: Second Sunday of the month (until April 8th)
If you’re looking to make your doggie date into more of a day trip, we recommend travelling a little further out of town for this dog-friendly event at Two Rocks Beach. Sponsored by Reef Life - Two Rocks, Sandy Paws - A DOG’S DAY OUT is a dog-friendly market packed with dog-only stalls and puppy pamperers. Pooches can enjoy a $10 dog wash before exploring the markets and re-hydrating at the aptly named ‘bone bar’. And of course, there’s plenty of treats for the humans too!
