Doggie Dinner Movie Night comes to Perth

On Saturday 3rd February, Perth pooch-lovers will have the chance to attend the city’s very first Doggie Dinner Movie Night, a charity event to raise funds for the Shenton Park Dog refuge. Amongst dog-themed markets, a world-record attempt and the screening of an all-time classic, attendees will have the opportunity to get their paws on one of Pooky & Boo’s designer dog beds!

Paws for a cause

Doggie Dinner Movie Night is the idea and creation of eleven year-old pooch-lover, Thea Campbell. Born out of her passion for pooches, Thea wanted to create an event where owners and pet enthusiasts could bring their four-legged friends for a dog-themed date night, all in the name of a cause she holds particularly close to heart - the Shenton Park Dog Refuge. Although Thea is currently unable to fulfil her dream of becoming a volunteer at the refuge due to age restrictions, she has found her very own way to support the shelter through this amazing event. The movie night will take place at the Maylands Sports and Recreation Centre, and has already received a big response from the pet-loving community in Perth, with over 100 shares on Facebook and around 500 people expected to attend.

“If we get 500 people down, we will raise at least 7000 dollars for the Shenton Park Dog Refuge” - Thea

About the Event

Doggie Dinner Movie night will run for five hours, kicking off at 5:30 pm with an attempt to break a pooch-themed world record - Largest Dog Grooming Lesson (pet owners will need to bring their own grooming equipment to join in the fun)! Perth pet lovers and their pooches will then be treated with a dog-themed market, where they’ll get to meet lots of pet-related vendors, including treat-makers, masseuses and pooch photographers! This all leads up to the big event at 7:30pm:  a screening of all-time Disney and pooch-lovers classic, Lady and the Tramp. Pooches will even get a chance to recreate THAT famous scene with the free doggie spaghetti that accompanies each ticket purchase. Attendees will just need to bring one thing - a picnic blanket for the movie!

To help raise additional funds for the shelter, raffles will be held throughout the night with plenty of prizes for pooches and owners, including an appearance from our very own stylish dog beds! And with the positive response the event has received so far, Thea is already thinking about next year’s movie night -  a K-9 themed movie night with a K-9 themed world record!

Get your paws on a Pooky & Boo dog bed

As pooch-lovers ourselves, Pooky & Boo are incredibly proud to support such an amazing event for such a worthy cause. In order to help Thea’s efforts to raise funds for the Shenton Park Dogs’ Refuge, we will be donating one of our dog beds as a prize for the Doggie Dinner Movie Night raffle.
